The Brow Smart School Council 2019-2020

What is a Smart School Council?

Smart School Council has three elements:

  • Class Meetings that use our Class Meeting Tool to easily involve all in developing oracy, confidence and leadership skills.
  • Action Teams that give opportunities for pupils to get involved in social action.
  • Communication Team is a group of pupils that runs the Smart School Council for you!

Communication Team Jobs:

  • Introduce the new question during Monday values assembly
  • Announce the results of the vote from the previous week
  • Hand out class points for classes who held their weekly class meeting
  • Remind teachers to complete their weekly meeting by Friday when in class
  • Update the class meeting results on the website
  • Update the display in the hall

Summer Term Action Team Activity 18-19

Miss Leach was concerned that the PE shed was beginning to look messy and cramped. Miss Abel asked some school council communication team members to organise an action team. The action team came out of class to help organise the shed. We took some equipment to store in the playground containers. We hope that new junior action teams will form to lead games with the new playground equipment. There are skipping ropes, bean bags, space hoppers and athletics mats available.

Spring Term Action Team Activity 18-19

The School Council Communication Team urged junior children to start their own action teams to create clubs for infant children. Some infant children prefer to stay indoors instead of playing on the playground. These clubs gave them an alternative and gave juniors an opportunity to practise their leadership skills. The juniors planned their own activities and resources.

Autumn Term Action Team Activity 18-19

Friday 16th November 2018

Two year 5 pupils led a lovely friendship club for KS1. They gave out stickers and praise points for good behaviour. The infant children really enjoyed playing with their older peers. Today's activities were operation, guess who and drawing.

15th November 2018

Today a Year 5 action team met to plan a lunch time Friendship club they could lead for KS1. The club will take place on Friday lunchtimes between 12:15-12:45. The action team prepared a rota for Year 5 pupils to lead this club each week and prepared and printed activities to use at the club.

1st November 2018

Today a Year 6 action team met to prepare a rota of children to help to supervise the trim trail each day. Their jobs are to help the youngest children and to ensure safety rules are followed on the trim trail.
