Class 1 Home Learning: Week Beginning 13th July 2020

A few reminders for this week: There will be no Class One Zoom meeting on Monday afternoon this week, however Miss Abel will be in touch with the link to join a transition zoom meeting with her.  This will be a chance for the children to see their new teacher and find out a little from her about being a big Year 2!   It will also be a lovely way to share something about themselves too, maybe their favourite animal or a favourite toy? As always it is a chance to see our friends and have a little catch up.

Thank you to the families who joined our keeping in touch session on Wednesday. It went very well and as always it was lovely to see the children. This week it will take place on Wednesday 15th July; again 2pm until 3.30pm. Please remember you must be on time for these sesssions in order to join us.

This week our activities are getting us ready to say goodbye to one another in Year 1 and hello to the summer holidays. Our activities will all be in preparation for our final class zoom on Monday 20th July when we will have a virtual tea party together. There is no story this week, however I will read a party themed text each night on Seesaw instead.  As always I will post additional activities each day on Seesaw for you to use. You will need to use the login I sent home in your home learning packs to access these. The party plan is below for you to use should you wish to, as always if you have your own ideas feel free to go with them.

I know that the children I have spoken to about our party were very excited, it would be wonderful if for our last zoom together we could have the whole class joining in.

Our work books for this week are below if you wish to print them out, alternatively you can write directly into them over on Seesaw.

Practical ideas and online learning links will be shared using our Class One at The Brow Facebook page.

The children's end of year reports will be sent to you on Monday through Parentmail.

I hope you all have a good week, as always if I can help with anything please contact me using our Class One at The Brow Facebook page or email me using sarah.geraghty@thebrowcp.co.uk

I look forward to seeing you all soon, take care, Love from, Mrs Geraghty xxx

Spring 2 Planning

Our big question this half term is:       What does it mean to be curious?

We will be very busy investigating to find out the answer!

Our text this half term is...

Click on the link below to play Helicopter Maths. Remember to tick it off on your homework menu.

Our Year One journey.

Our day at the zoo!

Our trip to the panto.

We have been to watch Snow White and the seven dwarfs at The Brindley theatre as part of our Christmas party day. We were an excellent audience, listening carefully, singing along and joining in with all the fun! What a super day we had!

Reading Books.

The children will be sent a new reading book home every Monday and Friday. We would ask that you read together daily.

Grown ups should sign the reading record every time the children read.

The children receive praise points for daily reading. Please ensure you bring book bags in to school each day.

The children will be given a weekly spelling list at the beginning of each half term.

These will be linked to our phonics work and will include three high frequency words.

Please help your child to learn spellings each night ready for our spelling challenge on Friday.

Each half term the children will be sent a homework menu linked to our learning for the half term.

We ask that the children choose an activity to complete from the grid each week.

Homework books are sent home on Wednesday and should be returned to class on Monday please.

This half term PE will take place on Tuesday and Thursday.

The children will be dancing linked to our Disney on Ice trip later in the term and we will be starting an athletics session with the One Goal PE teachers. .

Please ensure they have full (named) PE kit in school every day.

Indoor PE: White t-shirt, navy shorts, black pumps.

Outdoor PE: White t-shirt, navy jogging bottoms, school hoodie and trainers.

Cheeky the class bear.

Cheeky the class bear has travelled to year one with us and is looking forward to choosing one child every week to spend the weekend with.

Cheeky loves adventures and enjoys telling us all about his time back in school on Monday morning!

Classroom Routines.

Every morning we choose a greeter of the day to welcome the children into our room with a high five or a hug.

Our star of the day looks after the lunch and class register.

Our bagel monitor is responsible for returning the bagel box to the kitchen each morning.

We follow our school and class rules every day and Mrs Geraghty looks out for children who are excellent role models to go up on our class shout out board.

We collect praise points throughout the day and every half term we are presented with a certificate and badge for our efforts.
