Welcome to wonderful Class One!

Welcome to our Year One class page, here you will find lots of information about our adventures in class.

Our teacher is called Mrs Geraghty and our teaching assistant is Mrs Quinn. We are all looking forward to an exciting year ahead.

Remember to keep checking back each Friday to see our week in pictures.

Autumn 2 Planning

Our big question this half term is:       Why can't a penguin live in the desert?

We will be very busy investigating to find out the answer!

We will be using the texts...

Our Year One journey.

Reading Books.

The children will be sent a new reading book home every Monday and Friday. We would ask that you read together daily.

Grown ups should sign the reading record every time the children read.

The children receive praise points for daily reading. Please ensure you bring book bags in to school each day.

The children will be given weekly spellings every Monday.

These will be linked to our phonics work that week.

Please help your child to learn spellings each night ready for our spelling challenge on Friday.

Each half term the children will be sent a homework menu linked to our learning for the half term.

We ask that the children choose an activity to complete from the grid each week.

Homework books are sent home on Wednesday and should be returned to class on Monday please.

This half term the children will be dancing for our PE sessions each week.

Please ensure they have full (named) PE kit in school every day.

Indoor PE: White t-shirt, navy shorts, black pumps.

Outdoor PE: White t-shirt, navy jogging bottoms, school hoodie and trainers.

Cheeky the class bear.

Cheeky the class bear has travelled to year one with us and is looking forward to choosing one child every week to spend the weekend with.

Cheeky loves adventures and enjoys telling us all about his time back in school on Monday morning!

Classroom Routines.

Every morning we choose a greeter of the day to welcome the children into our room with a high five or a hug.

Our star of the day looks after the lunch and class register.

Our bagel monitor is responsible for returning the bagel box to the kitchen each morning.

We follow our school and class rules every day and Mrs Geraghty looks out for children who are excellent role models to go up on our class shout out board.

We collect praise points throughout the day and every half term we are presented with a certificate and badge for our efforts.
