World Book Day 2017

Runcorn Hill Forest School

Class R have been invited along to work with Siobhan the Hill Ranger in the Forest School. We will be joining Siobhan every Thursday for the next six weeks and we are hoping to build a camp fire before we finish!

It has been very chilly but lots of fun. Take a look...

Thank you to Kathryn at Kenyon Hall Farm in Warrington for showing us around and letting us enjoy the Autumn sunshine on the farm. Thank you to Daisy's Mum, Libby's Mum, Anthony's Mum and Mia B's Mum for joining us. We all had a fabulous day!
Thank you to Helen and Karen for visiting Class R today with their guide dog pups. We were very pleased to meet you Rishton and Taylor!
Our Stars of the Week! Well done for being fabulous!

Our stars of the week

Every Child a Reader 2017. Thank you to all our grown up's who joined us for reading on Friday. We loved having you learning alongside us.

Santa Saves Christmas - Our trip to The Brindley Theatre

Gung Hay Fat Choy!

Today in Early Years we celebrated Chinese New Year together.

We have had a very busy week making dancing dragons and musical instruments to use in our celebration.

Mr Morgan - Man joined us to tell us all about how him and his family celebrate Chinese New Year; both in England and in Hong Kong where his Mum and Dad celebrate.

Jaighlynn and Junn dressed in their New Year outfits and we listened to 'The Great Race' before our dancing began. We found out that the longer the dance the more luck we will have for the year. We hope to be very lucky!

We ate a delicious Chinese Banquet together for snack too.

Thank you to Mr Morgan - Man for joining us; we learned lots and had a fabulous morning too.

Our Learning Journey

Our Special Visitor!

Homework.

The children will be sent their half term homework menu every Wednesday. The homework menu will have a selection of activities covering different areas of the Early Years Curriculum.

Choose one activity to complete each week.

Homework books should be returned to school on Monday morning.

Reading Books.

The children will be sent home with a reading book each day. Please encourage them to share the books with you, talking about the pictures and finding key words and letter sounds in the text as they develop their reading skills.

Please sign and comment in the reading record book when you read with your child.

Please help your child to read and recognise the key words in the front of the reading record book.

Looking for and reading signs and labels around the house and in the local area are a good way to develop reading skills.

Book bags should be returned each day.

Praise Points.

Our children are regularly rewarded for their behaviours and attitudes around school each day. As the children collect points they are rewarded with certificates, merit badges and prizes at 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 praise points.

The children will be awarded praise points for a number of things; attendance, pleasing work, good manners, having the right equipment and displaying good manners to others.

There are sanctions in place for children who don't follow our school rules as outlined in the school behaviour policy.

Our Buddies.

The children have each been allocated a buddy from year 6 to help look after them over the school year. The children will share playtimes, reading activities, art work and trips with their buddies. The younger children look forward to their time with older pupils and friendships quickly blossom between the pairings.

Star of the day.

Each day we choose a star of the day to help with classroom jobs and roles. The children have their name displayed on our star of the day board.

Star of the week.

On Friday afternoon we go to our whole school celebration assembly. Each week we choose a child or group of children that have worked particularly well over the week or have accomplished something remarkable to share their achievements with the whole school. The children are rewarded with praise points from Mrs Webb and a celebratory well done from their peers!

PE

PE for Reception will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday. The children need full PE kit including pumps for indoors and trainers for outdoors.

Classroom Bear.

In class we have our very own bear called Fluffy to look after each day.

Fluffy needs lots of help in class and he's always looking to see who is being a good friend.

Fluffy will be sent home with a different child each Friday.

Our bear will travel with a diary for you to fill in telling us all about your adventures together. His Brow book bag has everything you need for a fun weekend together. Spotty PJ's, his wellington boots, his school uniform and his diary to record all the fun that you have.

Please return him to Class R on Monday morning.

Fluffy's Friends. Well done for being spotted doing something special by Fluffy.
