Reception Home Learning Timetable

Hello children and Happy New Year. I am sad that this is not the start we expected, however we will still make sure learning is fun and that you are safe. We hope you enjoy the activities set. I can't wait to see your faces on Google Meet. This half term we will be learning Phase 3 Phonics, numbers 5-10 and all about 'The Naughty Bus'.

This Half Term...

This half term we will be learning all about transport and materials.

Our learning challenge question is...

'Do all things float?'

We will be reading the following texts:

Useful Documents for Parents

The following documents will help you understand our half term topic and give you an insight into your child's learning. Please find attached:

  1. Long Term Planning Overview
  2. Half Term Overview
  3. Weekly Timetable
  4. Homework List

Reading Books

The children will be sent home with a reading book on Monday and Friday. Please sign and comment in the reading record book each time you read with your child.

Please encourage them to share the books with you, talking about the pictures and finding key words and letter sounds in the text as they develop their reading skills. Please help your child to read and recognise the key words in the front of the reading record book. Looking for and reading signs and labels around the house and in the local area are a good way to develop reading skills.

The children will be sent their homework every Wednesday through Tapestry.

The homework tasks will have a selection of activities covering different areas of the Early Years Curriculum. We also encourage the children to log into Spelling Shed and Numbots weekly to develop their literacy and numeracy skills.

Homework evidence/observations should be uploaded to Tapestry by Monday so that they can be marked.

Physical Education

Please ensure they have full (named) PE kit in school every day.

Indoor PE: White t-shirt, navy shorts, black pumps.

Outdoor PE: White t-shirt, navy jogging bottoms, school hoodie and trainers.

The children will earn rewards for demonstrating positive behaviour, positive attitudes towards learning and working towards our school three school rules:

  1. Be Safe
  2. Be Kind
  3. Be Respectful

The children will receive praise points for individual behaviours and class points for whole class efforts. When 20 class points have been awarded the children will choose their class reward. One child each week will also take home our class bear for the weekend. If excellent work or achievement has been demonstrated the children may get to visit Mrs Webb and show her their work. In addition, they may get chosen for Mrs Webb's hot chocolate morning or show their work in celebration assembly.

Miss Scutt and Miss Barton will always be watching to see who earns a place on our class 'shout out' board for excellent behaviour!

Autumn Term 2

This half term we have been super busy! We have learned about many different events and celebrations including: Bonfire Night, Remembrance, Diwali and Christmas. We are making fantastic improvements with our reading and counting. In addition, we are now writing many more words and we are great at hearing the sounds. In P.E, we learned that we need to use two hands to catch a ball and we also made some impressive dances. We enjoyed celebrating the Christmas period and we learned to play many games together. We have had a lovely half term!

Autumn Term 1

What a fabulous start to the year. We have been so busy getting to know each other and learning the school rules. We have enjoyed exploring the classroom, pumpkin picking and celebrating Harvest together. We have made many marks and started to explore numbers. We have really enjoyed learning sounds in Phonics and we are even starting to read. We are so proud of achievements. We look forward to more learning next half term.
