Colomendy 2016

We are looking forward to our 2016 residential visit to Colomendy this week! We have 29 very excited children packed and ready to depart on Wednesday 24th February for an action packed adventure! Keep an eye out on this page for daily updates of what we have been up to each day.

Day One

What an amazing first day filled with fun, laughter and food. We have all settled into our dorms and even managed to make our beds. We had roast for our tea and then did our first activity called Night line. This involved us all being blindfolded holding onto a rope with one hand and following the person in front around a course. Then it came to the most amazing time Campfire. We learnt two fantastic songs including one about a banana, had toasted marshmallows and drank hot chocolate around our campfire which we had named 'Firefly'. Then at 9 o'clock we headed back to our rooms for snack eating, story and sleep. Night! Night!

Day Two

Well what a surprise we had this morning when we woke up ~ a snowy scene right outside our dormitory windows! The children and staff all wrapped up with plenty of layers of clothes and headed outside for a spot of fun in the snow. The group has been non stop all day today building shelters and learning to make camp fires, firing rockets, bouldering, dj mixing and firing arrows in archery. The children are currently dancing the night away in Club Kingswood. We are seeing some groovy moves! It has been an adventure packed day with lots of new skills learned and new confidence found for many. Yawn, it will soon be time to rest our dancing feet and got to bed. See you all tomorrow, night, night.

Day Three

We still had some time to squeeze in a few more adventures this morning at Colomendy! It was a bright, crisp morning and we packed up our bags quickly as we were eager to make the most of our last day. The children tried some orienteering activities navigating themselves around the site. The children worked in small teams to follow different maps and follow a pathway or find the clicker posts. The children worked well to discover the secret letters and reveal the mystery words. After a yummy lunch we had time to have a play in the sunshine and say good bye to our group leader Bongi who was amazing!

Mrs Cottam, Mrs Badger and the staff would like to say a huge well done to all of the children for being so amazing, brave and so well behaved! They did The Brow School proud and many people we met also commented on this! Thank you to all our parents for allowing your children to come on the residential and preparing them so well with their kits. Mrs Cottam would like to thank all of the staff for volunteering their time to support the visit as it would not be possible without them.

So here's to the 2017 residential! Keep your eyes peeled for information coming soon.
