Special facts about tigers.

Tigers have been the largest amongst wild cats for years. As well as tigers are so strong that one punch from a tiger could kill you. But if you live in India you have to be very very careful as India is the largest country with the most wild tigers.Tigers love to swim and play in water such as lakes,canals and rivers.As people know the mother tiger is very protective about her cubs and care for them very much and also since their father go way to fight to protect and get their territory but the mothers cubs were born blind and only half of the cubs survive lucky a lot of the cubs survive.Tigers mostly live for 25 years sometimes shorter because of the hunters.

How many tigers are there and what ones are extinct?

Today there are less than 3,900 only, leaving 3,500 tigers left in the wild ; nine tiger subspecies Javan,Bali and Caspian have gone extinct,with the remaining six species endangered. Not only are tigers endangered,but their population is steadily decreasing.

When were javan tigers declared extinct?

Javan tigers were declared extinct 3 decades ago. (meaning 3 years ago) Even though the beauty of these subspecies can no longer be seen nor brought back as scientists cannot find the javan,Bali nor Caspian DNA they cannot be brought back or enjoyed but they are appreciated by many.

How much historical range has tigers lost?

Tigers have lost 95% of their historical range. The clearing of forests for agriculture and timber as well as the building roads and other developments poses serious threats to tigers and their habitats.
