FREE SCHOOL MEALS: YOUR SCHOOL NEEDS YOU!
As you know, Government policy on universal free school meals means that all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are now entitled to a free school meal.
WE NEED YOUR HELP…there are a large number of families who have not registered for free school meals even though they are eligible, because their child gets a meal automatically as they are in KS1.
For every eligible family that does not register for free school meals, school loses out on £1320! As there are a large number of families that are not claiming there is a vast amount of funding that could be going to support children in school which we won’t be allocated.
We would therefore urge you to apply for Free School Meals so that school receives the available funding to support our children effectively. The funding is available from Central Government for every child whose parent receives one of the following benefits.
- Income support
- Income-based Jobseekers Support Allowance
- Income-related Employment Support Allowance
- Support from NASS (National Asylum Support Service) under part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- The guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit (with no working Tax Credit) with an annual income of no more than £16,190
